Roland King, Program Director/ Head Coach
Tualatin Hills Dive Club is very pleased to announce the hiring of a new Head Coach and Program Director. Roland King has accepted this position and will begin on January 4, 2016. Roland comes to us from Sierra College in Northern California and brings over 25 years of diving experience at the national and collegiate levels. We received letters of recommendation for Roland from many of the biggest and brightest members of the diving community. These strong and compelling endorsements convinced us that Roland is abundantly qualified for the position. Roland’s past diving programs have generated over 100 national qualifiers, 2 national champions, 2 national-champion runner-ups, 7 state champions and 21 All-Americans. THDC is excited to have such an accomplished dive coach joining us and we plan to utilize his experience to benefit every level of THDC diver. Please join me in welcoming Roland King to THDC.
Veronica Rydze, Coach – Team
Veronica, known affectionately to the divers as “Vern,” grew up around diving as her grandfather was a past president of USA Diving and her father was the diving coach at the University of Iowa. She began diving at age 13 and her accomplishments include Academic All American 2011, 2012, NCAA All American 2011. She was a member of the USA Diving National Team in 2012 and competed in Montreal. Veronica qualified for the 2012 Diving Olympic Trials and competed with a fourth place finish. She dove for the University of Iowa, graduating in 2012, Her coaching career started in 2010 and says she loves seeing the kids get excited about learning a new dive or finally getting a correction right! When she is not on deck, Veronica teaches yoga and like to go hiking, backpacking, rock climbing and snowboarding.
